Goodbye 2010

"My pipe is out, my glass is dry;
My fire is almost ashes too;
But once again, before you go,
And I prepare to meet the New:
Old Year! a parting word that's true,
... For we've been comrades, you and I --
I thank God for each day of you;
There! bless you now! Old Year, good-bye!"
- by Robert W. Service

Christmas yummies

I wish we could put up some of the
Christmas spirit in jars
and open a jar of it
every month.
- Harlan Miller -

The Snowman

Being born on the Adriatic coast with mediterranean climate (read this "winters without snow") this is how
i have imagined - Christmas with snow - when i was a child... Still love this animated film, especially the song.

... and snowflakes of course ...

"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons.
It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
Dr. Seuss

The splendor of the season

" The splendor falls on castle walls
And snowy summits old in story:
The long light shakes across the lakes
And the wild cataract leaps in glory."
(Alfred Lord Tennyson)
